WOW! | ARUNDEL FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS 2025
Welcome to Arundel Festival 2025
Edward Norfolk
Carolyn Kenney
18th Duke of Norfolk
Mayor of Arundel
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 48th Arundel
Festival of the Arts, a vibrant celebration of creativity that brings
together artists, performers and audiences from across the region
and beyond. Set against the historic backdrop of our beautiful town,
the festival continues to honour its charitable mission: to inspire,
connect and showcase the arts in all their forms.
We are delighted to present a rich and evolving programme this
summer including live music and family entertainment to literary events,
exhibitions, theatre, and community celebrations 3 many of which take
place in the historic streets and open spaces of our town.
This year9s programme reflects the heart and soul of Arundel9s artistic
community. The Arundel Gallery Trail, one of the town9s most cherished
traditions, sees local residents open their homes and studios to the public,
offering rare and personal encounters with art and artists alike. The
ever-popular Theatre Trail brings drama into unexpected spaces, while
performances of Shakespeare in the Castle, a truly unique experience,
continues a tradition that has graced the grounds of Arundel Castle
for nearly half a century. This year we will be setting the stage for
Shakespeare9s Merry Wives of Windsor.
My sincere thanks go to the many volunteers, artists, supporters and
sponsors who make this Festival possible, and to all those who give so
generously of their time, energy and even their homes to help it thrive.
Most of all, thank you to the Arundel community - whose warmth,
hospitality and enthusiasm continue to make visitors feel so welcome
year after year. The Arundel Festival of the Arts would not be what it is
without you.
Whether this is your first visit or your forty-eighth, we warmly welcome
you to Arundel and hope this year9s Festival leaves you inspired, uplifted
and enriched.
The Arundel Festival of the Arts is now in its 48th year, having
started way back in 1977. Some of us can remember the heady
days of the 70s; but for those who weren9t even born yet, I decided
to check out some of the other cultural references. 1977 was an
auspicious year indeed, marking the SiIver Jubilee of Her Majesty
Queen Elizabeth II, with thousands of street parties up and down
the country on the 7 June National Holiday. Controversial punk
rock group The Sex Pistols released their song
